The iCandy ASSIST is a pram that is designed for mothers living with Multiple Sclerosis. Designed to fit in with iCandys’ existing pram aesthetic. The iCandy ASSIST is designed to subtly assist the user with hills and fatigue induced stability while not showcasing that they are receiving any help.

Process to designing the iCandy Assist

The iCandy ASSIST was a project that I ran during my Masters. I undertook an in-depth analysis of understanding my users, by face-to-face interviews, coding to find statistical frequency among my interviewed users to identify common, consistent issues and develop a wide range of potential concepts.

Test rigging

Within design, it is important to test certain aspects of your design. This section has been included to highlight the process I undertook to see if the design would work in principle for the iCandy ASSIST.

COVID-19 Alert band

Designed to be released as a government initiative, the COVID band gathers the wearers mean temperature over a week and will notify other bands around it if the wearer has a high temperature by the use of haptic feedback. The band can also be reset for specific circumstances such as the wearer exercising.

Prototyping COVID band

I ran this project to be able to rapid prototype the band and quickly analyse alterations needed as well as identify which straps would work and what would not. This helped keep the project moving and allow the band to be refined to give the user a pleasant wearing experience.

Electrolux Kitchen steriliser

Electrolux surface steriliser

As part of my undergrad, we ran a project that could fit within the Electrolux brand, to be used within a professional kitchen environment. The Arthropod is an automated surface steriliser. Mapping out a surface will automatically clean the area it has scanned either during the night or during a work shift. Allowing the chef to move on to their next task, with the knowledge that their kitchen surface is being correctly cleaned reducing the risk of cross-contamination within the kitchen.
